The power of persistent prayer

It should come as no surprise that any powerful move of God is fueled by the prayers of His people. God intended prayer to be the breath of the believer, giving spiritual life that’s as constant and essential as breathing is for physical life. Prayer is communion and conversation with God that flows from an intimate relationship with Him. We are admonished to “pray without ceasing,” not just in special, set aside time in our prayer closets but from moment to moment throughout our day. Unfortunately, while many Christians are aware that prayer is foundational for a fruitful life and relationship with God, few believers have truly tapped into the power of a daily, disciplined and consistent prayer life. If we want to experience the tangible benefits of being more than conquerors in Christ, we must develop the discipline of persistent prayer.
Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. Luke 18:1
Prayer is the language and the currency of Heaven. Unlike what some may believe, the earnest, heartfelt and continuous prayer of God’s righteous people has tremendous power to shift even the most bleak of circumstances. In the parable of the persistent widow and the unjust judge, we see that being tenacious in our prayer requests is not something that God sees as a lack of faith–on the contrary, it is the mark of someone with great faith who refuses to give up until God releases them the victory. Just like the persistent widow who would not stop making her request known to the judge until a verdict was made on her case, God expects us to keep on asking, watching and partnering with His Spirit in prayer until we receive an answer from our Righteous Judge, Jesus. He is not overwhelmed or annoyed by our constant requests but He inclines His ear towards our cries for divine intervention and His heart is moved by our unwavering faith.
Jesus taught His disciples in Luke 18 that “they must always pray and not faint,” that is we are to pray at all times and not give up or become discouraged. To be a victorious prayer warrior for the Kingdom, we must develop spiritual consistency in our prayer life that produces discernment and patience. This means we are not moved by what we may see in the natural realm but we are aware of the spiritual battle happening in the unseen, spiritual realm. Unfortunately, so many Christians lose faith and stop praying when they don’t receive the results they are looking for according to their own timelines. Sometimes they may even get mad at God and give up on prayer altogether, believing that He doesn’t care and that prayer is not effective. Sometimes God wants us to go through a process that helps us strengthen the faith we lack. The mature believer knows that God is a faithful Promise Keeper and that they can put their full faith and trust in God and have an unwavering confidence in His promises, even in the midst of trials, difficulties and delays.
There has probably never been a more urgent time in modern day history for God’s people to pray like never before. Right now, God is raising up a prayer army of spiritual warriors who will willingly take up God’s call to engage in spiritual battle and embrace the kind of unshakable prayer life that strengthens faith, brings spiritual breakthrough and releases the anointing power of the Holy Spirit in their homes, communities and across the nations of the world. He is calling all of us to strengthen our spiritual prayer muscle and gain a deeper revelation of the power of faithful, never-ceasing, persistent prayer. If you’ve been pressing in prayer and standing on God’s promises for your life and still haven’t seen the victory, keep going and don’t give up! God is pleased with your faithfulness in prayer and you may be moments away from living in the fruit of your answered prayers!
