Trusting God for bigger and better

It’s a brand new year! As we step into 2026, some of us may be tiptoeing into this new year already feeling discouraged–carrying over doubts, fears and reservations from the year before. For many, myself included, 2025 was a challenging year. Perhaps you started off last year with big hopes and dreams that didn’t even remotely pan out the way you had planned. Maybe 2025 was a year of disappointments, burdens, unexpected setbacks, loss or personal failures. Wherever you find yourself today, even if you’re a little battle weary, I want to encourage you not to be afraid to put your trust in God again and believe big for 2026!
Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. Ephesians 3:20
Ephesians 3:20 teaches us that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond all we could dare to hope, ask or think according to His great power that is at work in us. This means that while we might have certain plans and aspirations for our lives, God will carry out His purpose and do infinitely more than even our greatest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams. When our desires seem overwhelmingly big and naturally impossible, there’s a good chance that God placed them in you to prove that with Him, all things are possible! Even though we may not know how He’s going to do it, God has already made provision for the vision He has personally placed in our hearts.
We serve a Heavenly Father Who loves us beyond measure and delights in giving good gifts to His children. God wants us to make big plans and believe in Him for great things, not to frustrate or disappoint us but to stretch our faith and to get the glory out of our lives. While the outcome is ultimately God’s power at work in us, we’re still required to trust God in the process. As God’s daughters who have placed our faith in His Son Jesus, we must have the boldness to approach God just as little children do and make our requests known to Him with freedom and without fear. The Bible says we have not because we ask not, therefore, we need to be daring in our faith and bold in our prayers.
To know the love of the Father is to know that He is able and willing to take anything we place in His hands–even the things we are reluctant to give up–and do with it unfathomably more than we could ever do hanging onto it. For every door He shuts, an even better one is waiting to be opened. Where there is lack, He is able to multiply so there is more than enough. Where there have been delays and shortcomings, He is able to redeem the time and bring forth sudden, unexpected breakthrough. When we put our trust in God, we exchange even our smallest mustard seed of faith for the blessings found in keeping the faith and abiding in His will. Keep your confidence in Him and don’t give up until you see His promise come to pass.
Will you trust God with your 2026? At the start of this new year, I challenge you not to give up on God and the dreams He has placed on your heart. Whether you’re believing for financial breakthrough, a new job, a home, a spouse, a child or a miracle of healing or deliverance, if God said it, He will do it! Stay hopeful, stay expectant and don’t let the disappointments of the past hinder you from receiving the greater things He has for you in your future. Dare to pray those big, wild prayers again! Decree and stand on the word of God! Believe big, watch and prepare to be amazed by how He will move superabundantly, far over and above everything you could ever dare to ask or think this new year!
